Sinead Bracken

Lecturer in Psychology

I have been a registered/chartered Psychologist since 2000, having graduated from TCD with an honours degree in Psychology and French and subsequently obtaining a Masters in Counselling Psychology from UCD. I am a Psychology Lecturer at AIT in the Department of Nursing and Healthcare since 2008, having previously worked as a Psychologist for the HSE for almost a decade. In 2012 I received a PG Diploma in Third Level Teaching, Learning and Assessment. I am undertaking a PhD at NUI Galway in Health Psychology while working as a Lecturer in AIT. I am mother to three children and since 2013, when I started with a Couch to 5K programme, I have become an avid runner and was one of the founding members of Moate Athlone Running Group in 2015.

Currently pursuing PhD on Physical Activity at Midlife for Successful Ageing and Wellbeing at NUI Galway.

Psychology Lecturer at Athlone Institute of Technology since 2008, predominantly on BSc(Hons) degree programmes in General and Psychiatric Nursing as well as BSc(Hons) Nutrition and Health Science. Also have lectured on BSc (Hons) Sports Science and Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy students and Special Purpose Awards in Gerontology and End of Life Care. Past Supervision of Masters in Intellectual Disability Students.
