Seadna Ryan

Assistant Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Project Management

Seadna Ryan is a lecturer in the Business School and Department of Lifelong Learning. He qualified from NUIG with a BComm (1989) and MBA (1998).He completed a Post graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning (2011) and a Post graduate Certiificate in Technology Enhanced Learning (2012) in AIT.

During the period, from 1983 to 2005, he served as an officer (commandant) in the Irish Defence Forces, serving in a variety of operational, logistical, financial and training appointments, both at home and on overseas missions.

He is business mentor with the Roscommon and Longford County Enterprise Boards working with SMEs in starting and developing businesses. He has completed various training courses for the Enterprise Boards including entrepreneurship, business management and management development courses. He has completed Public Procurement seminars and training courses for Intertrade Ireland to prepare firms to compete successfully in cross border and international tender competitions.

His research interests include entrepreneurship, strategy development and implementation, public procurement , business management development and the development of rural tourism enterprises. He is a director of Co. Longford Tourism Ltd and Longford Clondra Royal Canal Amenity Ltd, both voluntary bodies with the objective of developing tourism in the county. During 2014, the groups developed a 30km walking/cycleway on the Royal Canal in Longford, the first stage in creating a tourism product of national and international significance, linking Dublin to the River Shannon at Longford with an off road walking/cycle trail.
