Organic Chemistry Lecturer on the BSc (hons) Pharmaceutical Sciences programme lecturing in the following modules: organic chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, pharmaceutical synthesis, pharmaceutical spectroscopy, pharmaceutical materials, contemporary issues in pharmaceutical chemistry, API Discovery and characterisation and Medical devices and advanced therapies.

Researcher. I’m working closely with the fine chemical industry in the area of biocatalysis in an effort to displace multistep chemical routes for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals with lower cost and less polluting enzymatic processes. Other areas of research interest include the development of novel drug delivery systems, Synthesis and characterisation of new psychoactive substances, Smart seed delivery systems using hydrogels.

TUS-Athlone Scifest co-ordinator providing an opportunity for second level students in the midlands to showcase their skills in Science Technology Engineering and Maths and at the same time to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
