In 1978, I obtained a BA degree in Hotel and Catering Management (NCEA) in GMIT.

In 1994 I was awarded an IAIT Certif icate in Accounting.

In 2001 I was awarded an MA in Education (HETAC).

In 2008 I obtained a level 9.5 ETCS certificate – continuing professional development in Higher Education facilitated by AIT, Learning and Teaching Unit in conjunction with DIT Learning and Teaching Unit.

Post graduate experience involved working in London, France, Switzerland and USA.

In 1982 I commenced employment with AIB Group as part of the ‘Group Catering Management Team’ catering for approximately 3,000 staff and corporate business; responsibilities included: accounting, stock control; cost control; costing; pricing; expenditure analysis; accounting for VAT; budgeting and budgetary control; banking and bank reconciliation; monitoring of food and beverage service; managing and supervising of staff.

In 1995 I was appointed to AIT initially as College Teacher and in 1996 I was appointed to Lecturer grade. I lectured in Accommodation; Tourism; Quality Control: Complementary Studies and Accounting. I reviewed the existing Financial and Management Accounting syllabi and developed new syllabi in numerous programmatic reviews in the following programmes: BB in Front Office and Tourism Management; BB in Hotel and Leisure Management; Higher Certificate in Sports and Recreation and BB in Sports Management and in the BA in Spa Management.
