Katherine Grace

Lecturer in Volume Food Production, Pastry, Desserts & Bread Making

Katherine Grace is a Culinary Arts lecturer. Having grown up in a family run hotel and coming from a long line of teachers her career was always going to be in the hospitality education. She has a Diploma in Hotel Management and holds City & Guilds 706/1, 2 and 3 in Professional Cookery. She has a first class honours BA degree in Hospitality Management from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), and a first class honours MA degree in Management in Education from Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT).

Prior to her academic career she worked in fine dining establishments throughout Ireland. She retains her industry links and has strong working relationships within the hospitality sector. Katherine has many years teaching experience having taught with Fáilte Ireland, Waterford Institute of Technology and the Hotel School in Killybegs before she commenced her tenure in Athlone Institute of Technology. Katherine has considerable curriculum design experience and has been involved in developing courses throughout her career. She has been involved in training students for competitions both in Ireland and abroad. She has a special interest in adult learning and her masters theses is in the area of exploring the learning needs of mature students in third level education. She has a passion for teaching and believes every student has the potential for success.
