Brian Toolan

Lecturer in Marketing and New Venture Creation & Growth

Brian Toolan is originally from Galway, Ireland. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from NUIG and a Master’s degree in Finance from UCD. He worked as an accountant with KPMG Reynolds McCarron and as a merchant banker with Lloyds TSB subsidiary Hill Samuel Bank in London, UK, for 10 years and Dublin, Ireland, for 2 years.

Brian currently lectures on a wide variety of undergraduate and post-graduate, full time courses, to Irish and overseas students. He is also responsible for designing new courses, revising and modernizing programmes, setting and correcting examinations and liaising with external examiners and examining bodies. Brian has experience of supervising postgraduates on research projects at masters and co-supervision at doctoral level.

Brian is a former director of the MBA programme. Brian has lectured in Coventry University, UK; IUT Rennes, France; University of Applied Sciences Hochschule, Emden, Germany; as well as in Ghent, Belgium and University of Malaysia in Perlis. Brian has designed and delivered an MBA module for Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland and Poznań School of Banking, Poland.

He has delivered consultancy courses with a wide variety of public and private companies for both Irish and International government agencies.
