Alison Sheridan
Acting Head of Department, Business and Management
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce from NUIG, and an MSc in Strategic Human Resource Management from Sheffield Hallam University. In 2010 I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Third Level Learning & Teaching with DIT. My industry experience was gained in HR roles in the private sector in the UK and as HR Manager in AIT from 1994-2006. Subsequently, I spent two years as Acting Head of Department before moving to a lecturing role in 2008.
My current research is focused on the operation of HR Practices in SMEs, with a specific interest in companies within a service context.

I have completed modules on Principles of Research Methodology and Advanced Studies in Qualitative Research Methods in DCU in 2012 & 2013 respectively.
I am actively involved as a member of the Midlands CIPD Committee which provides a forum for HR specialists within the region and I attend approximately five events each year on a range of HR- related topics. In addition, I maintain links with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development through my work as Programme Leader for the professional courses that are currently offered by AIT on a part-time basis.
I have been a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development since 1993.
