AIT Secures Funding for Additional 300 Springboard+ Places

Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) has secured funding for an additional 300 free or part-funded Springboard+ places on a range of exciting programmes commencing in venues across Athlone, Ballinasloe, and Tullamore in January 2019. The five programmes on offer, including Data Analytics and Robotics and Automation, have been designed in response to the needs and requirements of companies in the areas of Manufacturing, Services, ICT and Medical Technology.

This is a unique opportunity for learners to avail of free or part-funded training though nationally accredited part-time, evening programmes. Participants will be furnished with the skills and competencies necessary to begin or advance their career in these sectors or enhance future career prospects. The programmes are available to those currently in employment (irrespective of level), to those on social welfare and to those considering returning to employment after a prolonged period of absence.

According to Mr Seadna Ryan, Head of Department of Lifelong Learning: “The programmes are applicable to those working or who intend to work across business sectors such as Biopharma, MedTech, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Hotel and Catering, and Construction.”

The programmes on offer include:

1. Certificate in Operations, Quality and Lean Management (NFQ Level 6, 60 Credits), to be delivered in Athlone, Tullamore and Ballinasloe on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 10pm and a number of Saturdays

2. Certificate in Robotics and Automation (NFQ Level 6, 40 Credits), to be delivered online on Monday evenings and in class in AIT on Fridays

3. Certificate in Construction Management (NFQ Level 8, 40 credits), to be delivered online on Monday evenings and in class in AIT every second Friday

4. Higher Diploma in Data Analytics (NFQ Level 8, 90 credits), to be delivered online on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with a number of in-class tutorials in AIT

5. Master of Science in Data Analytics (NFQ Level 9, 90 credits), to be delivered on Mondays and Wednesday evenings with a number of optional Friday workshops held on-campus in AIT.

While AIT will endeavour to facilitate all interested applicants, it is recommended that applications be made as soon as possible to as places are limited and demand is high.
