AIT ‘Jobs of the Future’ Career and Further Study Expo Kicks off Thursday

Athlone Institute of Technology will hold its annual Career and Further Education Expo this Thursday 11th October from 10am-2pm, showcasing some of Ireland’s leading employers in areas like Engineering, ICT and Medical Technology.

This exciting event will afford students a unique opportunity to learn about the jobs of the future in areas like Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Robotics and Smart Manufacturing, to name but a few. Attendees will also learn about the demands of the jobs of the future and the soft and hard skills necessary to succeed in a digital, networked world that’s constantly in flux.

Over the course of the Career and Further Study Expo, students will network with some of Ireland’s leading employers, including Ericsson, Boston Scientific, Grant Thornton, RBK, Intel, CPA Ireland, Harmac Medical Products, Almac, and Johnson and Johnson. Several higher education institutes like Trinity College Dublin, University of Limerick and NUI Galway will also be in attendance for students interested in pursuing further education.

“We’re expecting a record number of exhibitors this year, with more than 60 companies and colleges confirmed to attend our Career and Further Study Expo. Students can expect to see some of the country’s largest employers, ranging from indigenous to multinational, across a wide range of disciplines and sectors.

“Students should take full advantage of this opportunity to network, learn about internships, graduate programmes, fully-fledged employment and, of course, further study,” Denise Dolan, Careers Officer at Athlone Institute of Technology and event organiser said.

Athlone Institute of Technology is currently leading the way in graduate employability, in large part because of its commitment to applied research and innovation. The institute’s strength in identifying areas of skills shortages and working with businesses to improve the links between enterprise and academia, have long made AIT graduates highly desirable and sought after in the jobs market. Graduates of the institute currently enjoy 93% employability rate six months after graduation.

According to Mrs Dolan: “The depth and breadth of this year’s Career and Further Study Expo is a testament to how valued our students are and the store companies place in the quality of education we deliver. We have an extremely bright, technically-minded talent-pool of graduates for companies to draw from, particularly in areas like science, engineering and business,” she added.
