Welcome to AIT
Message from the President
I am delighted to welcome you to Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT). This is such an exciting time for you to join us as we look ahead to opening our doors as a new technological university on October 1st. As the very first cohort of our university, you have a unique role to play in our story.
You are about to embark on an exciting new chapter in your life, and I hope that the coming days will help you settle into your new environment. Our staff are looking forward to meeting you and will help you make the transition to third level.
While you are coming to college with a view to gaining a qualification that will help you secure employment, remember that it is also about meeting new people and gaining new experiences. This broader education is central to the AIT experience. I encourage you to get involved in clubs and societies and to make use of the many opportunities that will be afforded to you in AIT.
I look forward to meeting you all on campus later this month. You will really enjoy your time living in Athlone, a new university town, and studying with us here on campus.
Know that whatever your academic endeavour, you will receive every support and opportunity throughout your time with us.
Ciarán Ó Catháin,
