Safe Systems of Work
A safe system of work is a formal procedure which is developed from the examination of tasks in order that hazards and degrees of risk can be identified and assessed. Safe methods of work are then developed and introduced to ensure that either hazards are eliminated or the degree of risks associated with each hazard is minimised.
Safe Systems of work are operated in AIT to ensure that employees and/or students are not asked to carry out tasks which may compromise their safety. Written safe working procedures are often developed to give safety information on certain work activities where there may still be a risk present and are intended as part of the safety control measures to reduce or even eliminate the risk.
