As an example, typical events can include Careers Fairs, Open days, Graduation Ceremonies, Sport Competitions, Art Exhibitions, Barbecues, Wall Climbing Events and Social Gatherings including Performances.

Events taking place within the Institute, can be organised and operated by many different groups belonging to the campus community or even by external groups or organisations operating events from within the Institute.

Organisers can include AIT Units, Academic Departments, their Staff and/or Students, Student Societies/Clubs, and Non-AIT External Groups or Organisations.

Some Events by the very nature of their activities, will present a greater number of potential hazards and as such will need an increased level of control.

For reasons of safety it is important that hazards are identified, the risks assessed and the appropriate control measures implemented to ensure events are operated safely and to ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants.

In order to support achieving and maintaining good standard of health and safety for events, the Institute has put in place an Event Management Policy and Procedure, which is intended to ensure that events are properly organised, managed, and operated. The Full Policy and procedures can be accessed via the link below.
