Exams Dos and Don'ts

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WHICH ARE PERMITTED IN THE EXAM VENUE

Students are permitted to bring only the following items into the exam
centre:

  • Clear plastic bag or pencil case
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Markers
  • Highlighters
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • Calculator (see permitted list)
  • Correction fluid
  • Rulers
  • Compass
  • Divider
  • Protractor
  • Plumb line
  • Set square
  • Slide rule
  • Theodolite
  • Triangle
  • T-square
  • Student I.D. card
  • Jewellery
  • Wallets/Money purse/Money (only permitted in a sealed clear plastic bag)
  • Pre-approved medical items such as inhalers, insulin syringes, medication, etc. *
  • Liquids in a clear plastic bottle or bottle with labels removed.
  • Students with open book exams may bring in the material relating to the exam. No electronic devices are allowed in open book exams.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WHICH ARE PROHIBITED IN THE EXAM VENUE

Candidates are NOT permitted to bring in:

  • Dictionaries (any language) English Dictionaries are available to students whose first language is not English.
  • Mobile phones
  • Bags
  • Large purses
  • Liquid in cans, or labelled bottles.
  • iPods
  • iPads
  • E-tablets
  • Laptops
  • All articles which contain a digital screen, for example, pens, rulers, erasers, watches etc.
  • Any electronic devices which are capable of transmitting information.
  • Written notes
  • Books
  • Notebooks
  • Post-its
  • All personal non-exam related items for example ornaments, artefacts and cuddly toys
  • Any items which are not included on the permitted list above should be considered disallowed
