Your First Year

Coming to college can be both an exciting and daunting experience. In your first year and throughout your time at TUS, we will do all we can to help you feel welcomed as part of a warm and supportive community of staff and students.
If you are coming to TUS through the CAO or transferring from another 3rd level college, you will receive a registration pack in the post with details of how to complete your registration process. Once you have completed on-line registration, you should retain your new student number as you will use this during Induction to complete processing of your new TUS Card, access email and other college resources.
We recognise that your first 2 months of term are often the hardest. Settling in, getting used to a new routine, making friends, finding your way around, balancing time between your studies and social life, struggling with your finances – it’s not easy! We have developed a tailor made 7-week programme of events and supports called 'TUS Connect & Engage' to help you get off to a flying start in your first few weeks here. Sometimes it’s nice to hear from other students who have been in your shoes so you can follow your faculty student led social media accounts for useful tips and more, and feel free to ask questions as they are happy to help and point you in the right direction (see QR code in your Induction timetable and on Connect & Engage Leaflet). Check out the TUS Student Resource Centre and the TUS Students’ Union on Instagram and Facebook to hear more about what is in store. We are looking forward to getting to know you and help you make the most of your time
Even with the best laid plans and intentions, things can sometimes go astray. Unexpected life events can throw you off balance, whether you’re in your first term, or a more established student. It is part of the ethos of our friendly, tight-knit community to offer our students the best support we can. Never be afraid to reach out to your TUS community — you’re not alone — we’ve helped countless students navigate their way through personal, financial and educational difficulties to reach their full potential to Connect and Engage with all TUS has to offer.
