Coming to college can be both an exciting and daunting experience. In your first year and throughout your time at AIT, we will do all we can to help you feel welcomed as part of a warm and supportive community of staff and students.
If you are coming to AIT through the CAO or transferring from another 3rd level college, you will receive a registration pack in the post with details of how to complete your registration process and a timetable for your New Student Induction Experience (see button below). Once you have completed on-line registration, you should as you will use this during Induction to complete processing of your new AIT Card, access email and other college resources.
We recognise that your first 2 months of term are often the hardest. Settling in, getting used to a new routine, making friends, finding your way around, balancing time between your studies and social life, struggling with your finances – it’s not easy! We have developed a tailor made 7 week programme of events and supports called AIT Connect to help you get off to a flying start in your first few weeks here. Sometimes its nice to hear from other students who have been in your shoes so you can follow your faculty student led Snapchat for useful tips and more, and feel free to ask questions as they are happy to help and point you in the right direction - aitscience2018; aitsocsci2018; aitbizhosp2018; aitengineer2018 (see snapchat codes in the AIT Connect download below). Check out the AIT Student Resource Centre and the AIT Students’ Union on facebook to hear more about what is in store. We are looking forward to getting to know you and help you make the most of your time
Even with the best laid plans and intentions, things can sometimes go astray. Unexpected life events can throw you off balance, whether you’re in your first term, or a more established student. It is part of the ethos of our friendly, tight-knit community to offer our students the best support we can. Never be afraid to reach out to your AIT community — you’re not alone — we’ve helped countless students navigate their way through personal, financial and educational difficulties to reach their full potential to Connect and Discover.
