Welcome to eduroam here in Athlone institute of Technology.
Eduroam (educationroaming) is the secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
Eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain secure internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop or mobile device.
To use this facility you need to download/install the eduroam installer for your particular computer/mobile device.
The easiest way to configure your device is to connect to this site https://cat.eduroam.org/. This will automatically detect the installer for your device.
Links to various installers can be found below. As an alternative, some devices can be configured manually. Links to documents describing manual setups can also be found below.
When you have installed Eduroam, Staff must use their AIT username@ait.ie and password and students must use their AIT studentnumber@student.ait.ie and password.(e.g. A00123456@student.ait.ie)

Technical Details:

| Encryption | 802.11i. WPA2/CCMP/AES is supported. WPA/TKIP will be implemented for legacy devices. WEP of any key length is not allowed. |
| Authentication | 802.1x. Local (AIT) users will be authenticated using PEAP-MSCHAPv2 only. Visitors will use an EAP type supported by their home institution. |
Network access details
The network access supported from Athlone Institute of Technology via eduroam is in line with the minimum recommened by the Irish Eduroam Policy.
