How do I get a Personal Public Service (PPS) Number and open an Irish Bank Account?
If it is your first time working in Ireland, for TUS to pay you salary you will require a Personal Public Services Number (PPS Number) and to open an Irish Bank Account. It is important that you make application for a Personal Public Services Number (PPSN) and apply to open an Irish Bank Account as soon as possible on arrival to Ireland.
Further information on applying for a PPSN is available below:
https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/personal _public_service_number.html#l34075
https://services.mywelfare.ie/en/topics/appointments/ppsn-appointment/
In order to receive a PPSN you will require a letter with proof of your address in Ireland, which HR can provide once you arrive to Ireland.
Irish Bank Account
You will also be required to open an Irish bank account. To open a bank account, you will require at least one form of photo identification and at least one proof of address. Some banks may request a second form of identification, it may vary, depending on which bank you chose to go with. Each bank will advise you on the details they require.
The Bank will require a letter with proof of address in Ireland, which HR can provide once you arrive to Ireland. Please ensure to forward this detail.
Revenue
Once you have received your PPS Number it is important that you register your employment with Revenue (MyAccount) to ensure your tax is correct with revenue.
Our payroll department can give you more details on this once you have received your PPSN.
IMPORTANT- SALARY
We must advise you that it may take up to 6 weeks at a minimum to receive a PPS Number and open a bank account. For this reason, it is essential that you bring sufficient funds with you in order to get you through this period of time.
Your salary will be paid fortnightly, however, payroll is processed in advance so when you receive your PPS Number and open a bank account and submit to HR will determine when you will be due to receive salary.
