The Faculty of Continuing, Professional, Online and Distance Learning is responsible for the design and delivery of accredited, professional and non- accredited flexible learning programmes across the Institute. Using the latest technologies and effective pedagogies the faculty supports the delivery of online/blended learning programmes in particular while also delivering programmes in the traditional format. Through this methodology the faculty ensures that the learner may access the most appropriate learning from any location and via any device (PC, Laptop or Mobile Phone). In designing and developing programmes the faculty works closely with industry ensuring that the content and delivery format meets their needs. In recent years, the faculty has focussed in particular on upskilling and transversal skill requirements required currently but also for the workplace of the future. The faculty programmes are delivered through the Department of Lifelong Learning.
Our Faculty of Business & Hospitality, Faculty of Engineering & Informatics, Faculty of Science & Health,and the Faculty of Continuing, Professional, Online and Distance Learning offer over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
AIT’s excellent teaching and learning environment allows our Faculties to recruit and retain staff of the highest calibre— the highest proportion of Doctoral and Post-Doctoral staff of any IoT in Ireland. We’re also the only IoT in Ireland accredited to award its own PhDs. We award PhDs in four areas: Toxicology, Microbiology, Polymer Engineering and Software. No wonder AIT is on an accelerated path to becoming one of Ireland’s first Technological Universities.
