What will I experience?

This higher diploma programme provides formal education and training for graduates (in any discipline) who wish to pursue careers in areas related to computing and information technology. Holders of the qualification will normally be expected to enter employment involving business ICT, with a view to progressing to a managerial position. They will also be suitable for vacancies in the smaller organisation where a broader base of knowledge and skills is required, while a career in computer hardware/software sales is another realistic objective. The programme emphasises the importance of practical/project work across all modules.

It will enable you to develop a critical awareness of the strategies and methodologies used in providing computerised solutions to business-related problems. You will gain the ability and sensitivity to plan, design, implement and review a project using the necessary supervisory, interpersonal and project management skills. You will also obtain a detailed understanding of the workings of commercial computerised systems and develop an analytical awareness of the implications, uses and potential of the internet as a tool for the development of e-business.

Additional Information

​This is an industry-focused, hands-on, intensive programme, requiring significant commitment from students. There are 27 contact hours per week, in addition to a requirement for extensive self-directed learning outside of class time.
