An Introduction to Augmented & Virtual Reality | Virtual/Augmented Reality (Springboard)
Why take this course?
The terms Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and more recently Mixed Reality (MR), can be represented within the umbrella terms of Immersive Experiences and reflect the degree of digital content presented to the users as they move from the real to virtual world experience. These technologies are changing how we interact and consume media content.
Traditionally, applications of immersive technologies have focused on the delivery of entertainment and interactive gaming experiences. However, research and industry are now exploring the utility of these technologies within education, tourism, health, advertising, manufacturing, telecommunications, real-estate, human-machine interaction, and robotics amongst many industries.
The proposed Special Purpose Award (SPA) aims to deliver an Introduction to Augmented reality and Virtual Reality at level 6. This SPA places unique emphasis on enabling non specialised ICT persons (inclusive of those unemployed) to upskill them in a field that can be applied across a wide range of application domains. In this context, the offering will also support companies to build awareness of how such technologies can provide value and utility to their organisations.
