Why take this course?
This is one-year access course equips candidates with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to progress to third-level education at AIT. Graduates can gain entry to a range of AIT courses at higher certificate/ordinary degree level for the following academic year on successful completion of all elements of the course, including examinations and in some cases interviews. The access course gives students an understanding of computing, basic technology, science, engineering, business and humanities. Teaching methods include a combination of lectures, tutorials, project work and other assignments.
BTEA: If you are a social welfare recipient, you may qualify for the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA). You should check this out at your local social welfare office (www.welfare.ie)

Mature applicants: Persons 22 years and over on 1st January of the year of entry, with or without Leaving Certificate are eligible to apply.
Persons 21 years of age may apply and are required to have Grade D3 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate, including Mathematics and a language
(English or Irish), or a NFQ Level 5 major award.The selection procedure will involve an interview at the Midlands campus in Athlone.
