Postgraduate Research Hub

AIT’s Postgraduate Research Hub which was opened in 2010, includes purpose-built research workspace, seminar and social space. The hub is located on the East Campus and considerably enhances the learning, research and social infrastructure of the Athlone campus.

Sixty research Master’s and doctoral candidate stations are accommodated in the hub. The research space comprises two major ‘equipment platform’ laboratories in the areas of imaging and materials processing, research candidate seminar and social space, journal reading room and ancillary supporting facilities.

The enhanced research facility provides for hosting of young researchers and, where appropriate, distinguished scientists and engineers, participation in Science Foundation Ireland’s (SFI) Short-term Fellowships Programme, and academic and social networking deriving from the interdisciplinary character of the hub.
