PASS programme management
The PASS Programme at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) forms part of an initiative to improve the experience of first year students of the Institute.
Funding for this project is jointly provided by AIT and SIF II.
PASS Coordinator
The AIT PASS coordinator is Nuala Harding who is supported by School Management and Staff, and by the wider student body.
SIF II Manager
The overall manager for the initiative based in GMIT
Currently, the SIF II Manager is Carina Ginty.
School Management
Responsible for:
- Communications
- Updates on PASS
- Timetabling
- General support
PASS Course Coordinator
Responsible for:
- Support and liaison across all PASS Programme stakeholders
- Promoting PASS to first year students
- Advising PASS Leaders on running PASS sessions
- Conducting observation sessions
- Participating in the evaluation process
- Compiling and reporting feedback from participants in the PASS Programme
PASS Leaders
Responsible for:
- Planning and facilitating group discussions with first year groups (aka, 'PASS Sessions').
- Proving appropriate advice on independent learning, good study habits, and other learning techniques to their PASS group.
- Communicating with their PASS groups via Moodle, AIT's Learning Management System.
- Completing and filing PASS Session Reviews and Attendance Registers, and reporting any feedback or issues to the PAL Coordinator, Course Contacts, School Management, Class Reps.
- Maintaining a professional attitude on issues such as confidentiality, marks, standards, and student complaints.
