This Executive MBA programme is designed for middle managers, senior executives and consultants. The programme places a central emphasis on the development and consequent application of high-level conceptual skills. The curriculum is based upon a philosophy of successful management practice, underpinned by a critical understanding of relevant theoretical perspectives applied to an organisational context.
While there is a strong emphasis on academic content, much of the assessment relates to a variety of organisational contexts. Participants are required to engage with real-life problems and dilemmas faced by organisations. The strong analytical basis significantly enhances the effectiveness of the programme. Upon successful completion of the Executive MBA, graduates will have developed a reflective approach to their work experience, as well as a commitment to life-long learning.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The teaching and learning methods encourage the application of a theoretical framework to understand employment situations. Case studies help to develop the capacity to argue rationally, analytically and critically and the competence to be successful as a team member or leader.Teaching and learning methods include lectures, tutorials, case studies, seminars and learning sets. An appropriate balance of group and individual activity is provided in order to promote independent learning, to encourage shared experiences and to enhance interpersonal skills. Emphasis is placed on the clarity of feedback to enable participants to assess their own development and to identify particular learning goals.
