The International Office in association with the Students’ Union Accommodation Officer will assist you in finding suitable permanent accommodation for the duration of your stay. If you are booking bed & breakfast or hostel accommodation, please contact the accommodation provider in Athlone to inform them of your date and approximate time of arrival in Athlone.

Long-term Accommodation

Houses

Houses range from €55-€80 per week. In most houses you will pay your electricity bill and heating costs yourself, unless your landlord/lady includes it in the rent. Four weeks written notice must be given by the student if he/she wishes to leave the house, likewise for the landlord/lady if they wish the student to leave. Houses are generally furnished and kitchens are normally fully equipped. However, bed linen is not provided.

Student Apartments

1.  Heatherview Student Accommodation

Heatherview Court is 5 minutes walk from AIT's Main Campus. It is a stylish, modern development with every aspect of modern student living provided for. This development is highly secure with its own private individually coded security system. There is a night club near the entrance to the student apartments.

Student accommodation rate September 2009

    • Single room ensuite € 95 per week; €1,235 1st moiety.
    • Double room ensuite €150 (per person) per week; € 2,750 1st moiety.

Booking Deposit

A booking deposit of €800 will secure your accommodation and will be used as follows

    • Security deposit €150 (refundable)
    • All Utilities, i.e. electricity, heat, waste, internet and TV licence. Total €650

2.  Croí Oige Student Accommodation

Croí Oige is located across the road from AIT's Main Campus and consists of superb 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom apartments adjacent to the college at competitive rates. It is a mix of townhouse, apartment and duplex units with total accommodation of 191 beds. These comprise 127 single rooms (23 en-suite) and 64 twin rooms (10 en-suites).

  • Single En-suite €85 per week; €1,615 1st moiety
  • Twin room €55 per week; €1,045.00 1st moiety

Booking Deposit

A booking Deposit of €650 will secure your accommodation and will be used as follows:

  • Electricity charge prepayment €250 (May not cover full 38 week period)
  • TV/internet connection/Refuse: €220 (Non refundable unlimited internet access)
  • Security deposit €180 (Refundable)

Payment

Payment will be made in "advance" in two moieties; first payment not later than August 24th 2009 (19 wks). Second payment not later than January 11th 2010 (19 Wks).

Further information:

All apartments have electric storage heaters (night saver rate), immersions heaters (night saver rate), and bedroom panel heaters all on time-switch control. The electricity charge of €250 for electricity may not cover the entire 36-week period of occupancy. TV-Internet fee includes TV license plus unlimited internet access (non-optional). All applications must contain: Student I.D. No. (or CAO No.) and a recent photo (passport size). To make a booking, an application form needs to be filled out. After returning this, you will receive an acceptance offer, a guarantee form and an AIB Lodgment Slip. Forms must be signed and returned and deposit paid using the Lodgment Slip within 10 working days of dispatch in order to secure your accommodation.

3.  Glen Abhainn Village – Student Village

Glen Abhainn Village is a state of the art purpose-built student village. The complex is superbly located opposite Athlone Institute of Technology and a short distance from the town centre. 5.  Wellmount - Student accommodation

Wellmount is located half-way between Athlone town centre and AIT. The accommodation is an energetic mix of apartments, townhouses and duplexes. This mix has been purpose designed to maximise space and to create an environment that is enjoyable to live in.

  • €77.50 per week consisting of 3 moitres
    • 1st September - €930

Conveniently located across from AIT's main campus.
