Students with Disability
Athlone Institute of Technology welcomes and encourages applications from students with disabilities. It aims to ensure that these applicants are given an opportunity to enter the Institute and, while here, to complete their studies successfully.
AIT provides a complete and equitable access to education and all areas of college life, by avidly pursuing in its inclusive policies, seamless integration and active participation for students with disabilities.
Prospective students are encouraged to make contact with the service as early as possible (prior to the commencement of the academic year) in order to discuss in confidence any facilities and supports they may require during their course of study.
Additional facilities are available for all registered students with disabilities (including physical/learning/sensory disabilities, significant ongoing illness and mental health difficulties). Each student’s needs are assessed individually, taking into account his/her particular requirements. To avail of these facilities, you must be registered with the institute’s Disability Advisory and Support Service. Supports include note takers, personal assistance, learning support, assistive technology training, additional tuition and alternate examination arrangements.
