Q. Do I have to pay fees?
A. NO: If you have received a letter confirming your grant eligibility from your VEC or County Council (EU students only) you are exempt from paying student services fee.
Students attending the following programmes will have to pay an additional material fee:-
- BBS in Hospitality Management Programme (Year 1) €30
- BBS in Hospitality Management Programme (Year 2) €120
A. YES: - if you have not received the above, if you are repeating a year level or if attending in other than full-time mode.
There may be exceptional circumstances whereby a student repeating a year level is exempt from the payment of fees. Please contact fees@ait.ie for further information.
Q. If I do not qualify for a maintenance grant, what fees will I have to pay?
A. If you do not qualify for a maintenance grant, you are liable for the Student Services element of fees, which in the 2009-2010 academic year, is levied at €1,500.
The tuition element of fees will be paid on your behalf, provided you are eligible under the ‘Free Fees Initiative’. For further details contact fees@ait.ie.
Q. Can I pay my fees on an instalment basis?
A. In exceptional circumstances, applications for payment by instalment may be considered. Please forward your proposal, in writing, to Anne Naughton, Fees Officer at the institute.
Q. If I register at AIT, pay my fees, and subsequently receive a Round 2 or Round 3 offer at another college, will my fees be refunded?
A. A refund of fees will be granted for departure from this institute prior to 31 October. Please note that on leaving your programme of study you must:
- Talk to your Head of Department
- Complete a ‘Student Withdrawal Form’
- Complete an ‘Application for Refund of Fees Form’
Q. If I leave the Institute after the 31 October, will I get a refund of fees?
A. No refund of the Student Services Fee is paid where a student leaves the institute after the 31 October. A refund of 50% of the tuition fee will be made where a student leaves the institute between 1 November and 31 January. No refund will be paid where a student leaves the institute on a date after 31 January.
Q. What are the consequences of not paying fees due?
A. Students will not be issued with examination results and/or allowed to progress unless all fees, as deemed due by the institute, have been paid in full.
Q. I am repeating a year level. What fees will I pay?
A. If you are repeating a year level, you are liable for both tuition and student services fee. You must complete an Application to Repeat and Attend form, which must then be approved by the relevant Head of School/Head of Department. Fees will then be calculated by the Fees Officer.
Q. If I have successfully completed a higher certificate/ordinary degree qualification and I wish to continue to honours degree level, will I be liable for fees?
A. No, you will not normally be liable for fees because the continuation of studies from ordinary degree level to honours degree level is deemed progression.
Q. If I complete Year 1 of a higher certificate or ordinary degree programme and wish to apply for a different higher certificate/ordinary degree programme, will I be liable for tuition fees?
A. No, you will not normally be liable for fees. Once an applicant has not entered Year 2 of the course, he/she is permitted to take up another higher certificate or ordinary degree programme and avail of tuition fees. In other words, you are permitted a once-off change of mind, provided you have not entered Year 2 of your current programme.
Q. If I complete Year 1 of a higher degree (Level 8) programme and wish to apply for a different higher degree (Level 8) programme, will I be liable for tuition fees ?
A. Yes, in this case you will be liable for both tuition and student services fees.
