Non-EU Fees

Non-EU fees

Any student who does not meet the conditions of Free Fees or EU Fees will be liable for non-EU fees, regardless of nationality or citizenship. Students classified for fee purposes as non-EU will not be permitted to change their fee status following admission.

You may be exempt from paying the Non-EU student rate if you fall into one of the following six categories:

1. Holders of Irish/EU Passport If this applies to you please take your passport and relevant document with you to the Fees and Grants Office. You are required to pay the €2,000 student contribution fee.

Note: The student must be a resident in an EU member state for three of the previous five years prior to entry to the institute and have no previous third level attendance.

2. Any Non-EU national who has been granted full refugee status are eligible under the free fees initiative and are not required to pay tuition fees. If this applies to you please take the required documentation with you to the Fees and Grants Office.  You are required to pay the €2,000 student contribution fee.

Note: The student must be a resident in Ireland for at least three of the previous five years prior to entry to the Institute

3. Non-EU national who have been granted leave to remain in the State under Family Reunification arrangements are eligible under the free fees initiative and are not required to pay tuition fees, provided that the person confirmed eligible for family reunification has been recognised as a refugee. If this applies to you please take the required documentation to the Fees and Grants Office, you will be required to pay the €2,000 student contribution fee.

Note: The student must be a resident in Ireland for at least three of the previous five years prior to entry to the Institute

4. Non-EU national who have been granted leave to remain in the State under humanitarian grounds. If this applies to you please take the required documentation with you to the Fees and Grants Office. You are required to pay tuition fees at the EU rates in addition to the €2,000 student contribution. Note: The student must be a resident in Ireland for at least three of the previous five years prior to entry to the Institute

5. A parent of an Irish born child who has been legally resident in Ireland for at least three of the last five years, if this applies to you please take the required documentation with you to the Fees and Grants Office.  You are required to pay tuition fees at the EU rates in addition to the €2,000 student contribution. 

6. Any non-EU national who has been legally resident in an EU member state for at least three of the last five year, if this applies to you please take the required documentation with you to the Fees and Grants Office. You are required to pay tuition fees at the EU rates in addition to the €2,000 student contribution.

Category 1 GNIB Card, Passport, P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years
Category 2 GNIB Card, Passport, Letters granting family member status and letter granting principal refugee status, P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years
Category 3 GNIB Card, Letter granting family reunification, letter granting family member refugee status, P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years
Category 4 GNIB Card, Passport, Letter granting leave to remain in the state under humanitarian grounds, along with P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years
Category 5 GNIB Card, Letter granting leave to remain in the state under Irish Parentage, along with P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years
Category 6 GNIB Card, Letter granting leave to remain in the state, along with P60 and P21 for 3 of the previous 5 years

 

Notes:

  • In the case of a student under 23 years of age on the start of the course, the principal residence for the purpose of taxation of the parents will be assessed.
  • In the case of a student under 23 years of age on the start of the course an attendance letter from previous school/college can be provided to show proof of residency where P60 or P21 cannot be provided.
  • Any period of residence as a student, or as a holder of a student visa, is not included in the assessment of years of residence.
  • A Certificate of Registration with Stamp 4 does not necessarily exempt you from the payment of tuition fees
