This qualification builds upon the knowledge acquired and skills developed on the Higher Certificate in Business (Level 6) course. The programme aims to provide you with a deeper insight into the role and functions of a modern business enterprise and to prepare you for a variety of business-related career opportunities upon graduation.
During your preparation for this degree, you will have the opportunity to study both high-level general and specialised knowledge related to how industrial and commercial organisations function and to those factors which affect the success of an enterprise. You will also develop a critical understanding of the key elements of effective business management. An important aspect of the course will be your own personal development, in preparation for the duties and responsibilities likely to arise in future employment.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Higher Certificate in Business or an approved equivalent Level 6 qualification.
Modules
Semester 1
Managerial Finance, Business Information Systems, Business Law,
plus one module (or two 5 ECTS modules) from
Taxation, Retail Planning and Design, Logistics and the Supply Chain, Strategic Human Resource Management, Institutional Lending, Economic Policy & Analysis, Music Technology and Multimedia (5 ECTS), Irish Studies (5 ECTS).
Semester 2
Business Management and Enterprise Development, Managerial Finance, Company Law,
plus one module (or two 5 ECTS modules) from
International Marketing and Sales Management, Market Research and Analysis, Corporate Reporting, Computer Studies, Decision Making Techniques, Business French, Business Spanish, Music Technology and Multimedia (5 ECTS), Irish Studies (5 ECTS).
Progression
Graduates are eligible to apply to join the one-year, add-on, Bachelor of Business (Honours) Level 8 programme at AIT. Depending on the modules which you have chosen, you may also be eligible to join the final year of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting at the institute. Alternatively, you may claim exemptions from one of the professional accountancy bodies and transfer to full-time accountancy studies.
