AIT Design Exhibition Opens
The annual design exhibition at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) will be officially opened at the Northgate Street campus this Friday evening, 28 May at 6.30pm.
The exhibition features the work of students on the institute’s degree programmes in design communications, visual communications and multimedia.
Members of the public can view the exhibits from Tuesday-Thursday, 1-3 June from 10.00am-7.30pm and on Friday, 4 June from 10.00am-1.30pm. The exhibition will close at 3.00pm that afternoon with a presentation to the institute in memory of former design student Caoimhe Feerick-Ryan who died tragically in a car accident in 2008.
Head of the Department of Humanities, Owen Ross, said that: “The exhibition provides a public space to showcase the creativity of our design students. We live in a society dominated by visual imagery, all of which demand the skills of the graphic designer. At AIT, our students have the opportunity to develop their natural talent and give expression to their ideas in new and multifaceted ways.”
Further information about the exhibition and about Design at AIT is available online at the Design at AIT blog.
