The aim of this 10 ECTS credits programme is to equip the registered nurse with specialised up-to-date relevant knowledge and skills to enable them to function effectively as a healthcare provider in gerontology.
The knowledge gained will be evidence-based and aimed at bridging the gap between theory and practice.
The learning outcomes will equip the student to critically evaluate, develop and review the national and international health policy and its impact on the provision of healthcare for older people in Ireland.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants must be a Bord Altranais registered nurse working in the care of older people.

Dates
This special purpose award will be delivered over one semester and will require attendance in the institute for 6 days – lectures will be held on Tuesdays from 9am-5pm.
Dates for attendance: 17 & 31 January, 14 & 28 February, 13 & 20 March
Assessment
Continuous assessment, further details will be given on commencement of the course.
