Computer networking is a key function for most organisations. A graduate with a combined education in advanced computer network design, configuration and management, and cloud infrastructure will be invaluable to all employers.
Recent reports indicate that there is a significant shortfall of qualified personnel in this area, and particularly for those holding industry-accredited training. A survey of 950 chief information officers in 31 countries across Europe in 2010 highlighted the high demand for networking skills in the areas of security and network areas such as Voice Over IP and wireless networking. These advanced network technology skills shortage in Europe are estimated to reach 384,000 in 2015.
This honours degree which incorporates the design, specification, analysis and validation of secure advanced IP switched networks and cloud infrastructure is designed to meet this skills shortage in the workplace.
As a student on this programme you will learn the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to design and analyse complex IP switched networks, to develop virtual and cloud environments, and to securely integrate and manage data, voice and wireless networks. You will also learn how to analyse and prioritise the nature and extent of network security threats and available technologies, and approaches to counter these threats.Minimum Entry Requirements
