This course will provide you with the education and training necessary for a career in the computer, software and electronics industry. During the course of this degree you will develop the necessary theoretical knowledge in areas that are crucial to computer engineering and you will develop skills in computer systems administration and problem solving.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Higher Certificate in Engineering (Computer Engineering) or Higher Certificate in Engineering (Electronics and Computer Engineering) or Higher Certificate in Engineering (Electronics Engineering) or an equivalent Level 6 qualification.
Modules
Semester 1
Software Development, Digital Modulation, Embedded Systems, Mobile Computing, Computer Systems Administration, Mathematics.
Semester 2
Software Development, Data Communications and Networks, Project, Business Environment and Systems, Computer Systems Administration, Mathematics.
Progression
As a graduate you are eligible to apply to join the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering (Level 8) at AIT or related programmes at other third-level institutions.
Professional Recognition
As a graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, you are eligible to apply to Engineers Ireland to use the registered professional title of Associate Engineer.
Career Opportunities
Employment opportunities exist in the areas of computer manufacturing, computer maintenance, computer systems administration including PC network support and multimedia technology applications.
