This one-year add-on degree aims to educate and train students to be competent childcare managers and supervisors, responsive to the needs of an evolving childcare sector in the fluid social environment in which we live. Graduates will be equipped to manage a childcare service, as well as run their own childcare business.
The scope of the programme covers child development and protection, customer service, operations, and management of childcare facilities, creches, Montessori schools and playgroups in the context of a modern professional environment.
Input from guest lecturers will be an integral part of the programme. Managers of successful childcare facilities and settings, in addition to the various professional bodies, will be amongst the speakers on a variety of specialist topics.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Higher Certificate in Childcare Supervisory Management or an equivalent Level 6 qualification.Garda Vetting Procedure
All students on this programme will undertake Garda vetting procedures prior to commencing their work placement. Failure to disclose previous convictions will result in students being dismissed from the programme. Previous convictions, depending on their nature, could result in student dismissal from the programme.

Progression
Graduates of this programme will be eligible to progress to a proposed Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Childcare Management.
